Software AG, a leading provider of business integration software is continuing to expand our team. We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Writer that will design and deliver technical information that helps customers use Software AG products successfully.
Essential Job Functions
* Plans & Produces documentation and online help that is accurate, useful, well written, and well organized
* Solely responsible for planning the documentation efforts for a particular product or a particular subsystem in a product
* Delivers product information either alone or as part of a team
* Responsible for planning and delivering documentation efforts in his or her product area, at times with the help of other writers
* Identifies documentation needs for assigned projects and prepares documentation plans, identifying the deliverables that will be produced by the doc team. Updates documentation plan over the course of the project
* Produces user documentation and online help systems according to the documentation plan
* Produces documentation that is accurate and complete, complies with the department's style and quality standards, adheres to currently accepted principles of good design, organization, and usability, and requires little editing or rework
* Works with the Lead Technical Writer or Documentation Manager to identify resource requirements for assigned projects. Suggests adjustments as necessary and regularly gives updates on the progress of the team
* When needed, attends the weekly status meetings and reports progress of the doc effort
* Identifies new ways in which Software AG can deliver effective documentation to its customers Minimum Position Requirements
* Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or another writing-related or Information Systems/Computing-related subject.
* Alternatively comparable training in Technical Writing with several years experience
* 5-7+ Years Experience
* Meets requested deadlines
* Expert-level experience with desktop publishing or online help development tools required (e.g., FrameMaker, WebWorks Publisher), good knowledge of HTML and XML
* Understanding of any or all of the following computing concepts: business process management, web services, XML, object-oriented computer programming, client/server architecture, and/or database systems
* Usability training or experience, tools expertise, or coding experience, or some combination thereof (preferred) |
