| Job Description |
Purpose of Job: To develop user, reference, and developer documentation for PCI Geomatics software products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Contributes to the development and maintenance of a structured writing environment and an XML-based content management system.
- Interviews subject matter experts and conducts research to produce content.
- Writes clear, concise descriptions of concepts and procedures that users need to perform tasks, and ensures grammatical and stylistic accuracy.
- Edits content written by developers and subject matter experts.
- Creates and implements documentation strategies for a product or project.
- Organizes content into orderly, logical, and consistent format.
- Adheres to established PCI Geomatics standards, templates, and terminology.
- Ensures that all content in documentation set is verified for accuracy.
- Delivers high-quality Help systems, manuals, and other project documentation on schedule.
Education & Experience: - University degree in English, Technical Communications certificate, Geography/Geomatics or equivalent
- 2 or more years of technical writing experience
Specialized Skills: - Excellent technical writing skills
- Understanding of software and documentation usability
- Ability to write content according to established structures and guidelines
- Experience with structured writing and XML-based publishing strongly preferred
Software and Technologies: - XML
- DITA
- Adobe Acrobat
- Microsoft Word
- XMLSPY (preferred)
- Adobe FrameMaker (preferred)
Attributes: - Ability to produce quality work under little supervision and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- General knowledge of geomatics preferred
