We’re currently looking for qualified candidates to join our winning team.
This role is primarily responsible for proofreading Franklin Templeton materials (legal and financial documents, marketing pieces, multimedia presentations, print ads, corporate collateral and internal documents), maintaining accuracy of styles and formats, often under extreme time pressure and/or heavy volume. Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Proofreads all documents for accuracy of text and design/formats
- Reads proofs and corrects errors using standard comparison proofreading methods and proofreading marks in documents prepared by designers and production artists
- Checks formatting, layout, standard template and brand elements; keeps up-to-date on changes to styles, brands and standards
- Queries clients concerning possible inconsistencies, misspellings, or grammatical or factual errors
- Checks final proofs for correct styles, color, inclusion of correct forms, final edits
- Checks printer’s proofs for printer-made errors
- Maintains team’s work flow in Assistant Supervisor’s absence
Ideal candidates will have:
- 2 years’ proofreading experience (with proficiency in use of standard proofreading symbols)
- College-level English courses
- Basic knowledge of print production
- Proofreading experience in legal or financial fields
- Basic understanding of mutual funds, related financial products and services
- Graphics and prepress experience; experience with or basic knowledge of layout software
- On-screen proofreading or production experience with online or multimedia materials
- Language skill other than English; familiarity with British/international style
- Expert knowledge of written English: spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to recognize inconsistencies in text and format in documents of any size
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; neat, legible handwriting
- Ability to multitask and increase speed under deadline pressure
- Ability to organize and prioritize own work
- Ability to maintain updated knowledge of procedures, standards and activities of Creative Services
- Ability to operate a personal computer and related software (Mac operating system, Windows, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, FileMaker or other relational database, PowerPoint)
