Job Description

The Education Trust seeks a Writer to join the organization’s Government Affairs and Communications division. We believe in the power of words to advance our mission. The Writer plays a key role in helping shape the discussions that support the organization’s policy, practice, and advocacy efforts. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this bright, quick thinker’s primary function is to help convey the Education Trust message in clear, compelling language through a variety of formats and to a variety of audiences.  For additional information on The Education Trust, please visit www.edtrust.org.

·         Promulgate a consistent, advocacy-driven organizational voice throughout a variety of products.

·         Support the coaching of both experienced and fledgling writers.

·         Edit, research, and fact-check as necessary.

  • Previous experience as an advocacy or editorial writer, particularly on education issues, is desired.
  • Excellent interview and research skills, including a willingness to dig for the story.
  • The ability to juggle multiple assignments and complete projects accurately, on deadline, and in a consistent organizational “voice.”
  • A strong intellectual curiosity about Education Trust issues.
